Material Choice

PLA (Polylactic Acid)

Ideal for fast visual prototypes and form-study iterations. Offers high dimensional stability, crisp detail resolution, and minimal warping during rapid prints.

PETG (Polyethe Terephthalate Glycol)

Selected for functional fit testing. Provides superior impact resistance, chemical stability, and slight flexibility compared to standard PLA.

Design Guidelines

FDM Tolerances

Wall Thickness

Print Tolerances

Overhangs & Angles

Maintain a minimum wall thickness of 1.2mm. This ensures adequate shell bonding and structural integrity for physical form-study models.

Standard FDM clearances are held to +/- 0.2mm. Optimize your CAD models with this margin to guarantee accurate dimensional fit.

Design overhangs below 45 degrees to avoid support structures. This practice optimizes print speed and maintains a clean surface finish.
